I don't typically write reviews on products, but I needed to with this one.If you've tried roomba and it's just not successful in your house for whatever reason, this one is might do the trick.I've had many roombas, and was never 100% satisfied. They would get stuck, run out of battery, or many other problems.I have lots of stuff on the floors in several rooms. This robot manages to go to each room and find it's way around. It has an LCD screen on it to tell you want's wrong instead of having to remember what beep sounds mean what. I like how it can come back from 4 different rooms and still know where it's base is to charge. It's still not perfect, but with my experiences with roomba, this will work 10 times better, and I don't need any stupid IR walls to keep the roomba in check.I've had it get suck a few times, but most of those were my fault or could be prevented.1) it'll eat half a sock and get jammed.2) it'll eat my bathroom rug, but I think I can fix it by using carpet tape to sick down the edges.3) it'll eat wires like earbud headphones left on the floor.4) it can change from hard surfaces to soft almost all of the time (hardwood to area rug etc), mine gets stuck when leaving the bathroom, going onto a high ply carpet. I think it's just spinning it's tires and I might be able to solve this with a little ramp, or preventing the xv-11 from going into that bathroom. by a little ramp, I mean one of those thresholds that go between rooms when changing flooring styles. The threshold…

I am delighted with my Roomba 540 for what I expected it to do-- it's actually a bit better than expected so far, though I have not yet owned it long enough to rate longevity/reliability. I have two small boys (7 and 5) and two cats (one long-haired) and I decided to use the Roomba upstairs rather than downstairs-- it is easier to control the clutter upstairs in our house, and therefore more practical for our use to use it up there on a routine basis.Roomba vacuumed under a challenging queen bed, navigating over some cords, between two underbed boxes and six box-spring support pillars, and still getting out to the edge of the baseboard under the head of the bed-- great since I don't exactly move an oak bed around very often. Roomba covered the floorplan of a fairly complicated floor layout completely in the MBR, found the MBath, and cleaned up the tile floor very well, navigated back out (not using the included lighthouse yet) and discovered the hallway and one of the kids rooms as well as the kids' tile bathroom; it did a nice job on all. I did shut off the closet doors before starting Roomba. It navigated itself into and out of some pretty tight corners.Roomba bumped into a balled up shirt on my son's floor and navigated around it rather than trying to eat it, though I don't recommend that approach routinely.Roomba did have a couple of difficulties, which I found to be minor, compared to actually vacuuming:*Now, I have not yet used the included lighthouse to mark off the rooms…

The iRobot Roomba 532 Pet Series Vacuum Cleaning Robot make caring for a home with pets easier. The Pet Series robots come equipped with an extra set of easy to clean brushes, two interchangeable debris bins for trapping even more pet hair, kitty litter or dander and cleaning tools that ensure both sets of brushes remain free of debris for optimal performance. Cleaning up to three standard-sized rooms on a single charge, it comes standard with two Virtual Walls that use infrared beams that creates and adjustable, invisible barrier that blocks Roomba from entering off-limit areas. When the cleaning is done, or the battery is running low, Roomba automatically locates and returns to its Home Base to dock and recharge. Roomba efficiently vacuums dirt, debris, pet hair, pet dander, dust, allergens and more from…
I received my Robot on December 15,2008, an early Christmas Present. Rather than wrapping it, I gave it to the Missus so we could use it so the house would be nice and clean for Christmas day entertaining. It cleaned beautifully, the carpets looked great! This thing would fill up with crud even after running the old vacuum. How wonderful, one less chore to do.Until Christmas Day! So much for showing off the new gizmo! The brushes stopped turning that morning, and repeatedly gave a "clean Brushes" error message. After many attempts, and hours on the IRobot tech site, we established that the rollers indeed were not turning. After the Holiday rush, I found time to do a little more research. After consulting several robot discussion forums, it appears the cleaning head modules have a high failure rate. Apparently IRobot has made a new design of the module about 2 months ago. After getting frustrated with email support, I called IRobot and they say they will ship me a new module within 10 days.Okay, considering the above mentioned ordeal, 2 stars is being very generous, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. However, IRobot and Amazon should not ship items known to be defective. So, I'll wait 10 days for the new brush module. I should have returned the whole unit to Amazon, but figured I would get the same faulty design.I'll update this review Once I receive the new part and let you know if it fixes the problem, and hopefully give it the 5 star review I want to give!UPDATE…

13 of 14 people found the following review helpful 5.0 out of 5 starsUseful Novelty, October 15, 2009 By Paul Jacobs (Temecula, CA USA) - See all my reviews(REAL NAME) The Roomba is as close to the Jetson's house cleaner as we are going to get in 2009/2010. It won't replace Hazel or an undocumented housekeeper, but it will pick up most light debris off the floor. You will be satisfied if you do not demand fastidious housecleaning. No, it won't pick up all the hair off the floor from a shedding dog or an aging husband, but it is excellent at capturing those pesky dust bunnies. The technology inside the crazy critter is more impressive than its cleaning prowess. The thing docks itself for recharging like a shuttle docking with the space station. How cool is that? The two electronic lighthouse/invisible walls included in the package either guide or block the machine's entry into an adjoining room. Possibly the most impressive feature of the Roomba is its low profile that cleans underneath the dining room table without having to move all the chairs. Roomba is simple to use and a lot of fun for those with pets as long as you can keep them from sending Roomba to that big carpet in the sky.

I received my Neato this week and have already used it twice (2 very fuzzy cats). It does a great job covering every square inch of my downstairs in a single charge - light still glowing the green fully charged color (only about 800 square feet). It sections off the downstairs on it's own and then proceeds to vacuum each section in straight lines. When it's done with one section, it moves to a new section. It transitions well between carpeting, tile, and rugs. The vacuum is replacing an old, heavily used Roomba 530. In comparison, I enjoy the straight vacuum lines (unlike the crazy lines of the Roomba). In addition, I used to have to stop the Roomba half way through my downstairs to remove some of the cat hair from the brushes or it would stop working. I do not have that problem with the Neato because the spinning brush is more of a rubber, squeegee style. Right now, the vacuum seems much more powerful, but to be fair, the Roomba was old. I did notice, however, that the Neato is louder than the Roomba was, especially when it is first turned on. It sounds a bit like a plane backing out of the gate, but it quiets down some once it gets vacuuming.Overall, I am happy with the vaccuum. I was able to purchase the Neato at a huge discount through Woot which was fantastic!

Roomba Discover Robotic FloorVac
I'm just ordering my second Roomba Discovery for a friend. Having done the research, read the side-by-side reviews, and observed much information on discussion sites about the previous generation of Roomba vaccuum robots, I was hoping the one I ordered for myself last month would be a Real Thing, not just "a toy with a mission".And it is the Real Thing. Our house has three levels, mixed medium carpet, lino and tiles. We have a long-haired dog, and we used to manually vaccuum only intermittently -- once every couple of weeks.Roomba took one look at our "looked pretty clean" lounge and filled itself up with dog hair and dust in the first hour or so. It's still filling itself on passes a couple of days later. Our lounge is *complex*, lots of furniture and corners. A couple of lightweight mats had to be lifted, a heavy one was ok. Got cords and scattered clothing/books etc. out of the way, and that was enough.Having tried it more than once in most of the house now, I can conclude:a) COVERAGE, even in odd corners, is remarkably good (it can't get right INTO an inside corner of course, but nearly)b) CLEANING is excellent, at least as good as we would do manually -- also goes places we normally would notc) RELIABILITY seems fine -- that is, no problems experienced after about ten working hours so fard) UNSUPERVISED OPERATION is good enough. It goes through *remarkable* hoops to try and get untangled from a couple of situations that can arise in our house (low overhangs,…

iRobot Scooba Floor Washing Robot is a cleaning breakthrough that wet-cleans your floors automatically so you can have cleaner floors whenever you want them, without having to do it yourself. Just push a button and Scooba uses a breakthrough 4-part system to sweep loose dirt and debris, spray fresh cleaning solution, blast away spills and stains, and squeegee up the water to leave floors virtually dry all in one pass, so it's even safe to use on wood floors. And because Scooba always cleans with clean water, there's no re-deposit of dirt while cleaning, so you'll get cleaner floors, anytime, automatically.
We have had the our Scooba 380 for almost 2 years. The product works well (not great, or exceptional, just "good") when it actually works. However, starting 3 months from purchase, we began having problems with our robot. And, problems have persisted continuously since. I have spent many, many hours contacting customer service and attempting fixes for the various problems. Many times I've set my whole living room, kitchen, dining room up to be "scooba'd" while we were running errands, only for the robot not to work. Very frustrating to waste all this time, I have two kids and want this to work properly. I've also spent $50 to ship part of the robot back to iRobot for fixing. I have wasted much solution (which isn't cheap) to fill up the tank... then the "check tank" light comes on and I have to do the 15 or so fixes (including emptying & refilling the tank) in attempt to get it to work again. If you ask me how I like this product WHEN it actually will run, I would say it's worth the money, even if it doesn't clean perfectly. However, the total package and all it's problems is waaaay not worth the pricetag.

The 500 series Roomba cleans routinely… so you don’t have to. 500 Series robots offers the latest innovations from iRobot with unprecedented efficiency, coverage and cleaning performance. Roomba navigates and cleans rooms systematically, then returns to its Home Baseââ€Â¢ to recharge. Roomba efficiently vacuums the entire floor, under and around furniture and along walls and automatically adjusts from carpets to hard floors. Virtual Wallââ€Â¢ Lighthouses confine and guide Roomba from room to room, then direct it to the Home Base to dock and recharge between cleanings.
Received a model 550 for Christmas 2007. Had always dismissed them as a techno joke. Not any more. It really does as good a job on carpet as our bulky, noisy upright AND does hard surface floors BETTER. Our upright spewed loose items on hard surface - Roomba sucks them up. This model can be programmed to run when you are away or at night. It is very quiet, unlike uprights so if you use it while you are home you barely hear it. It gets places you usually don't vacuum with an upright. When was the last time you vacuumed under your sofa and beds? The Roomba is 3" tall and gets under beds, the sofa and the china cabinet. We have a short-hair cat and Roomba picks up the hair very well. It takes between 45-60 minutes to do a room. The dirt cup should be emptied after each room. Easy to remove. The dirt cup has two compartments; one for debris and one for dust that has a filter. Unlike our upright that goes crazy until you fish out solid items like a map pin, the Roomba competently sucked two of them into the debris area this morning, no fuss. I turn it over and remove hair, string etc. from the brushes after each use. There are two ways to confine it to one room. The first is to shut it in the room. If a room does not have doors, the second is to use what they call the "lighthouse" [2 included w/the 550] which gives off a signal and creates a boundry. Roomba transitions effortless from hard surface to area rugs. We learned to pick up small throw rugs after it once got…

Unit runs every day for about 2 hours and keeps four large rooms mostly clean of our dogs hair. We have two dogs and one sheds lots of hair. Most days the dust bin is full, so it keeps our house clean enough that a once a week through vacuum is enough.

I have a very hairy Shetland Sheepdog. If you don't vacuum (and brush) every day, you're in a world of hurt.I've had my Roomba for about a month now, and use it every day. It gets clogged to the max with hair, but I don't expect any less. I clean it after every cycle with a pair of manicure scissors and the brush cleaning attachment. This is actually my third IRobot machine. I have a Scooba I've been using every other day for three years to mop the kitchen floor. Other than a replacement battery, it's had no problems. I had another Roomba I used for two years before it was stolen during a burglary (I guess he was a clean thief.)I've found the IRobot machines to be smartly designed, functional, and very durable. (Plus, I don't have to vacuum or mop - what's not to love?)

The Trilobite is the world's first automatic vacuum cleaner. It was designed with one goal in mind: to give people time for more important things than vacuuming. But since its launch in Europe last year, it has earned reputation for more than just house cleaning. For starters, its sleek design makes it interesting and attractive. Its low, round body helps it maneuver in small spaces, and under furniture. It's also industrious. It can clean the whole room, spot-clean or do a quick-clean, right before the guests arrive. And it's sensitive. So much so, that it can vacuum around a glass of water without spilling a drop. Best of all, it is independent and conscientious. All you have to do is hit go, since the Trilobite figures out how to navigate the room, and then cleans it, all by itself. If it gets tired, it returns to the charging baywithout your having to lift a finger. It even turns itself off when it's finished. The Trilobite uses ultrasound to navigate through a room, just like a…
I bought a Discovery myself to help with my asthma and only used it in my tiled kitchen/family room. A very easy floor to clean. My friends were so impressed 4 of them bought roombas and or scubas.... Well I'm sorry to say that 3 of them as well as I have had irobot replace parts and refurb machines (might I add ... we had no problem with customer service) until the warranty was up...Now they want another 100.00 for another refurb... Not getting it from me! I just bought the trilobite for $437.00 and for one it really SUCKS... not simply brushing the dirt but vacuuming it up. It is a true vacuum not a sweeper like the roomba's. And if you can afford to get real lazy you can get the Karcher RC-3000 RoboCleaner that even has a self emptying feature.

Our home is 3,000 sq feet, single story. I have a newly crawling baby and 3 other children a toddler and two children under 8. We also have one pet, a cat. So normally I would have to run the vacuum by hand after each meal. However, with the Roomba I have not had a need to do that. I have her run after dinner each evening in our dining area. Perfect! She picks up whatever the kids leave behind. Each morning I have her clean the family room, school room and game room. Once a week she does the bedrooms.I had concerns that because of my children liking to leave things behind, toys, books, etc. We'd not be able to use the Roomba. But each evening after dinner we do what we call "Roomba clean" so that she can do her job without running into landminds of books or toys. The house looks amazing and the carpet and hard floors look so nice after she has done her job.I am amazed at what the Roomba picks up. And boy does she go for awhile without having to be emptied. The spot clean feature is great for small areas. Love that and use it often! My cat is not scared of it, and he is a very jumpy cat. I was imagining a cat running scared. So I'd imagine most animals can tolerate it very well.I have a pet dyson and though I loved that, I needed to push that, plug it in, move it from room to room. I don't have the hassle of me being involved in the cleaning with this, which works great so I can do other things while she handle the floors. My only complaint is the light house/ virtual wall.…

Uses iRobot AWARE iteligence System to navigate arround your room, ensuring your entire floor gets clean.
So I'm definitely one that researches the CRAP out of my technological products - my roomba maybe a little to the extreme. After reading the reviews there was a trend that they don't last too long - so I decided to get the cheapest model and replace it every couple years instead of being out alot more money with the $500 models. So I trucked down to walmart and bought the cheapy model. We've now had the little darling for 2 months. Background info: We run it in our living room and kitchen nearly everyday (hardwood floors, linoleum, area rugs). We have three border collies (LOTS of fur). Now my review:It takes a while... about an hour and a half (if you've kept up on the cleaning... longer if you've left it a couple days). Does it do a perfect job? No. It does a pretty half ass job.... but if it does a half ass job every day - in two days it would be 100%... and well I don't vacuum like at all - so it does a better job then I do. I would not suggest this for someone that is home all day either. We're home school students - so it gets a little annoying, but if your okay turning your TV up loud - you can definitely still watch the price as right while it's running. If I wasn't home all day I would really suggest getting the "home base". It's kind of a pain if you don't know where it stopped.Cleaning the brushes is not really that bad. (remember 3 shedding dogs). The little tool helps alot, but an utility knife helps with the wound up hairs every once in a while. We also…

The iRobot Roomba floor vacuuming robot is revolutionizing the way people clean - especially pet owners. Roomba gets rid of dirt, pet hair, allergens and much more from carpets and hard floors. iAdapt Responsive Technology ensures Roomba vacuums every section of your room multiple times, getting into areas you can't easily reach, including under and around everyday obstacles and vacuuming until the job is complete. The Roomba 564 Pet model utilizes AeroVac technology to maximize airflow through Roomba's cleaning head to pull hair and debris off the brushes and into the bin evenly. Roomba 564 is the only Roomba to include a Virtual Halo that guides Roomba around pet food and water bowls. The included Virtual Wall confines and guides the robot from room to room, the guides it back to HomeBase to dock and charge between cycles.
My yellow lab seems to shed enough hair to make her a hairless dog - but it never happens. Constant shedding = constant vacuuming!! I hesitated to get a Roomba because of reported problems with ease of cleaning the actual unit - etc. I decided to go for it anyway. Couldn't be happier! The Roomba 564 easily pops apart to clean areas where pet hair can build up around the wheel and on the brush. I love this little guy. I usually run it when I'm home to be sure it covers the areas I need covered. Not labor intense at all - I'm really liking this thing! I'm going to name it soon! haha
